Heat Supply of a Residential Complex

Though the residential park in Worms is just a few minutes walking distance from the city centre, the flats and detached houses are heated with energy from renewable raw materials. During the planning phase, the developer examined how the energy costs can be kept as low as possible for the future owners. This has been achieved by duly insulating the new buildings and by implementing innovative heat supply from decentralised combined heat and power (CHP) plants. These CHP plants are hosted in a multifunction building, are fed with biomethane and supply 875 households, a school and a gymnasium with green heat. To ensure full heat supply at all times, a gas boiler and a wood pellet heater have been installed additionally.

Facts and Figures

Start of the heat supply: January 2012
Term: 12 years
Annual heat production: 3,5 Mio. kWh
